Hi. Hello. It’s been WAY too long since I talked about the greatest love of my life - MENSTRUATION - so I’m bringing back the period party #menstrualmonday
Over the next few weeks I’m going to be featuring some of my favourite self care tips for each phase of your menstrual cycle. Bc with shifting hormone levels, emotions, and energetics, our needs are vastly different from one week to the next. Let’s honour that. .
The follicular phase makes up the first half of your menstrual cycle, generally encompassing your bleed all the way up until ovulation. We’re going to chat specifically about the time period post bleed leading up to ovulation (approximately cycle day 7-13)
This is your inner spring - a time of rising energies, and the transition from yin to yang - female sex hormones estrogen and progesterone are low, but rising slowly. During this time we’re emerging from the inward focused reflective period of menses, and are becoming more curious and extroverted. Self care at this point can include a slow introduction to more vigorous exercise (cardio, running, etc) and nurturing your left brain (logic and retention is increased) with things like books or podcasts. This is also the perfect time to start sowing the seeds of new projects you’ve been putting off, to reap harvest later in your cycle. .
How do you nourish yourself during the follicular phase?
